Manou GalloIvory Coast’s Manou Gallo is one of the most in-demand bassists in Europe. After playing with Zap Mama for six years and appearing in a play, she released her first album, “Dida” on the IglooMondo label in 2003. A documentary now traces her worldwide tour and the release of the second album…

Since the release of “Dida”, Gallo has played across the world several times, with shows in Mexico City, Louisiana, Johannesburg and at home in the Ivory Coast. The documentary “Manou Gallo - femme de rythme” by Jean-Philippe Martin followed her in Europe and Ivory Coast as she prepared for her tour and the new self-titled album, “Manou Gallo”. She will unveil the documentary with a special show in Brussels on March 15 at the Botanique in Brussels. Later in the month she will also appear at Manu Dibango’s celebration of 50 years of performing in Paris. The album “Manou Gallo” will be released in other countries over the coming months.

Manou Gallo on Amazon FR. For more info about Gallo visit Manou Gallo.com.

Update April 16: I have just heard that the documentary will be shown on the Belgian TV channel RTBF on April 17 at 22:45 and April 18 at 9:00.

I was there in Brussels last thursday! You can read my report on my world music blog tropicalidad.be: http://www.tropicalidad.be/pivot/entry.php?id=327

Although it’s written in dutch, anyone can enjoy the pictures and a short video of her amazing show that night.

I just this discovered your blog, it looks quite promising and I just subscribed to your feed. All the best!
